Sea Day #4

We have now left the Fijian Islands and are heading towards Hawaii at about 18 knots... We awoke to a relatively calm sea and sunny skies. Kelly was on coffee duty as I relaxed reading news and looking at Formula 1 highlights :-)  We sat on the deck and enjoyed the sea view.
Sea viewer enjoying a cuppa.
We went up for a bite of breakfast before attending the usual Captain, Engineer, Hotel & Cruise Director Q & A in the Palace Theater. We have been to theses before but always enjoy the crazy questions some cruisers put to them. The CD Graeme was hilarious as they tried to answer everyone.

Next was a walk through the center of the ship (code for shopping) to look at watches. Kelly is on the hunt it seems.  Also met up with Bryan & Cathy to see how their day was going. All good.

I split up from Kelly and attended the "Cruising Through The Solar System" enrichment talk from a very knowledgeable fellow. He had fantastic pictures of the solar system from the Hubble Telescope and explained the makeup of the planets and their many moons.  I enjoyed it very much and plan to attend his next talks.

We went back to the room and sat on the deck until it was time for the 3pm "Forensics Talk" in the Star Lounge. This talk was on several famous serial killers and the way the were eventually caught. Sadly a lot of people were killed prior to incarceration. It is grim... but fascinating stuff. The place was packed!

Kelly grabbed a snack and I had a Kracken Coloda for lunch... hey I am on holidays! BTW did you know that this rum was named after a mythical giant squid-like sea monster!

Back at the cabin, Kelly had a good chanter practice on the deck as I got today's blog going. I try to do notes through the day and then compile it before bed... seems to work although each day is getting a bit repetitive.

We have the Japanese Specialty restaurant booked at 19:00 so it looks like the evening show at 10:00 for us.... hang on... voice from the shower...ah check that..... new plan now. We have changed the reservation to 19:30 so we will now meet the Orr's at the 18:30 show instead... and then go to dinner.
Cruising on the fly as one must remain flexible at sea!

Gorgeous sunset again!
Shower time then off to the Palace Theater for the dance show "Fast Forward". It featured 70's & 80's dance music with Kelly's fav... Dirty Dancing. It was very entertaining.

Dinner was at Izumi Japanese tonight and it was also good. Kelly had the Surf & Turf which was cooked on a hot stone block at your table. Although tasty, the portions were a little light.

We walked back through the casino and after watching some three card Poker, Kelly hit the roulette wheel and had a string of hits on "her" numbers. To cap it off she hit her #3 twice in a row. She salted away the chips and we headed back to the cabin. A good day all around.

Now with our crossing eastward of the International Date Line,  we actually repeat May 1st again tomorrow... This will be our first experience with a double day scenario! I certainly won't mind repeating it.

Also we will cross the Equator in a couple days and there is a special ceremony that will take place for anyone who has not crossed it... Something about Neptune? Not sure but we will find out soon enough.
