Well we slept on and off through the flight and had a nice breakfast before decent into the airport at Sydney. Our ETA was now 12:50 local and the skies only had patchy cloud so we got a great view of the downtown and shoreline as we swung around for a northbound landing.

Touchdown was at 12:55 and we parked at the gate at 13:01 local time. Done!
Our bags arrived fairly quickly and we then made our way out to the main arrivals concourse after clearing Customs. We stopped at the Optus Cell Phone Booth and bought a 500mb/$2 a day plan for our phones... Not London prices but cheap enough!
Next was a trip to the the OPAL booth to add some funds to our OPAL Cards. We will use these to get on and off the various transportation links in the city... works great. We headed down to the train and after a quick check of the routing board, got off at Museum Station, close to the Pullman Sydney Hyde Park... our home for the next few days. The train is set up very similar to the Tube in London... stops even have same names :-)

A quick unpack only to discover our bags had been soaked by the rains in YVR. ARGHH! Only a minor issues but still! We quickly changed into summer gear and headed off to explore the area. We headed towards the harbor and within 20 minutes found the best spot for a snack/drink.

We took the train back to the hotel area and checked out the pool. Nice views!! Back at the room it was showers and blogging..... 19:00 and we are fading fast! Good effort on our first day and we will grab some caches tomorrow when we head to the Opera House for an inside tour.
